Being a cleaning expert, I have seen a lot of homes with all kinds of bathrooms and kitchens over the years. It seems natural stone is a very popular choice for both bathrooms and kitchens. It looks beautiful, however...it is not easy to maintain and clean.

While granite and marble are practical in the kitchen, it would not be my number one choice.  It’s very porous. If you decide to go with natural stone for the shower, you need to be ready to put some effort in keeping it in good condition and free from mold. Water gets inside the pores, which causes mold to grow. You are not supposed to use any harsh acidic chemicals on it either which make it high maintenance.
